THE BETRAYAL

During the 2 years of the pandemic I started finding social media (Im only using instagram btw) increasingly opinionated to the extent that most personal views expressed here, usually tend to flirt with extreme narcissism rather than critical thought and any effort for collective thinking. Instagram transformed violently as the word witnessed cataclysmic changes to a platform mainly focused on creative content became a cluttered graveyard of opinions not unlike in the manner of Twitter has been doing for years. Personally I struggle to update my content here and keep people engaged. At the same time I try hard not be political and share personal opinions on sensitive matters. There are times where I find that the effortless fun of instagram is gone because the effortless fun of life is gone. The last few days going through the feed of most people I have seen a pastiche of fashion week reports spiced with Ukrainian flags and call for global peace, toxic masculinity and systemic racism, Palestine, memes and a lot of rather hit and miss geopolitical analysis by the same people who were covid experts for the last two years. All of this while at the same time a sovereign country is invaded in a manner never seen before in recent years and it's population getting bombed as we speak. Im old enough to have witnessed the atrocities of the war in Yugoslavia, and the indifference of United Nation's Blue Helmets during the Srebrenica slaughter. As Karen Black writes in her book 'The Real Reasons for War In Yugoslavia: Backing up Globalization with Military Might''. The U.S. and its NATO underlings undoubtedly will be vastly emboldened by their "success" in ensconcing themselves in Kosovo, Bosnia and the other remnants of Yugoslavia—Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia. We can expect rapid steps to further fragment the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY). We can also expect the new mission of nuclear-armed NATO — intervening over so-called "humanitarian concerns" against sovereign nations—to be implemented elsewhere, with great speed, especially in the Caspian Sea/Caucuses areas of the former Soviet Union.

Following with Clinton's presidency I spent my morning reading this article by one of my favorite analysts dating back to 1992. In a nutshell it describes that economic stability and the balance of powers in an environment where every big power can flourish is a requirement for world order. History has taught us that after a war the victors have to be merciful. The dissaray of the early 1920's gave way to Stalin. Nor was Bruning's goverment given another chance in Germany once Hitler came to power in 1933. Over the years the US as an empire is bound to do, established its power ensuring global peace by intervening with war whenever found necessary. I find more alarming that even before this war started people did not look back to history for clues. I could blame everything on Putin's idiosyncrasy or his non legitimate fears for security but things are not that simple. I believe that the US and consequently Europe put Ukraine in a position of extreme perile without an exit door and without a real helping hand as there would never be a chance of US or Nato soldiers fighting for Ukrainian ground. The fact that Putin crossed the Rubicon is not addressed to their mistakes but the situation could have been prevented from escalating with pragmatism. As Jeffrey Sachs wrote on December 15th a few months before the conflict on Project Syndicate ''No global structure of peace can be stable and secure unless all parties recognise others’ legitimate security interests.'' All these days I have tried throught my platform of 35000 followers to be of use to the people of Ukraine and i have tried to express sober opinions based on history going through hundreds of articles and newspaper clipboards, and not just sentimental reactions to a groundbreaking event that will shake the foundations of what we have been taking for granted for years. The state to prosper and flourish without the threat of war as a damcolean sword over everything our democratic societies have managed to safekeep succesfuly through considerable efforts for years. I hope you take the time to read this.

If you don't agree with my reasonings again it's fine at least I will know I took the time and effort to be articulate and share my thoughts about a bending point in recent history.
